The Michelin Guide's review
At the westernmost tip of the town, continuing on from the main street, the small station designed in 1990 by architect Isozaki Arata is a gem of old-fashioned charm. Built out of wood, it houses an art gallery, free of charge. Its simple structure and 12m/40ft-high central atrium ensure a wonderful play of light and shadow all day long in the indoor waiting room. At the end of the platform, travellers are invited to relax while waiting for their train by soaking their feet in an ashi-yu, spa foot bath.
