The Michelin Guide's review
Commissioned by Maximilian after a failed assassination attempt by a Hungarian nationalist against his brother Franz Joseph in 1853, the neo-Gothic Votivkirche (or Votive Church) has steeples with an openwork design. Inside are two Renaissance works, the recumbent figure of Count Salm (1530) and the so-called Antwerp altarpiece (15C). Although the church has been under restoration for a long time, it is still open to visitors.
