Description
Inaugurated in 1869, the Staatsoper (State Opera House) stands proudly with its fine Renaissance façade overlooking the Ring. It is a symbolic institution of the capital and indeed of Austria. Steeped in history and with a dozen operas and three ballets a shown every month, it is an absolute must for any music lover. Tickets are not easy to come by, but a visit, to see the main staircase and the Schwind Foyer in particular, won't leave you disappointed.
