The Michelin Guide's review
The MAK (Austrian Museum of Applied Arts) occupies a neo-Renaissance edifice, dating from 1871, which was transformed in 1993 and endowed with a remarkable layout. The quality of its permanent collection is outstanding. Note in particular the oval cherrywood bureau in the "Empire and Biedermeier" section; the famous N°14 Thonet chair, an icon of 19C carpentry in the "Historicism and Jugendstil" section and the fabulous collection of carpets. Ever innovating, a visit to the MAK is a must.
