Enid A. Haupt Garden
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This 4-acre garden, named after its New York benefactor, is a peaceful, contemplative haven replete with antique benches, urn planters, walkways and 19C-style lampposts. The centerpiece of the garden is the ornamental parterre, adorned in 19C fashion with changing seasonal plantings. The iron and red-sandstone gate opening onto Independence Avenue is based on designs by James Renwick, architect of the Castle.
