The Michelin Guide's review
The Château du Clos de Vougeot can be seen from afar, rising in the middle of vineyards. Built during the Renaissance by Abbot Loisier, it was restored in the 19C. The tour includes the great cellar (12C), where the ceremonies of the Tastevin Brotherhood take place every year, the wine-making cellar (12C) with its four giant winepresses dating back to "the monks' time" and the former kitchen (16C) located under a vault resting on a single central column. The visit ends with the lay brothers' dormitory with its spectacular 14C timberwork.
