Vicenza Basilica

The Michelin Guide's review
Dominated by the tall and lofty Torre Bissara, a 12C belfry, this basilica (1549- 1614) is a masterpiece by Palladio, with galleries superimposing Doric and Ionic orders of great strength, proportions and purity. Despite its name, the basilica was not built for religious purposes and is now home to the Museo del Gioiello. From the terrace on the top floor, there are stunning views of the town, best admired in the late afternoon.
