Neo-Byzantine in style, this basilica is preceded by a vast square and a monumental staircase. The interior, lit by three rose windows, is dominated by domes adorned with frescoes. The upper lantern of the central dome, rising to a height of 57m, provides a magnificent panoramic view over Viana do Castelo and the Lima estuary. You can also admire the surrounding wooded hills dotted with the whitewashed villages of the Barcelos region, as well as long beaches of fine sand.
