The Michelin Guide's review
After five years of work, the Hamlet reopened to the public in 2018. Designed by Marie-Antoinette's architect Richard Mique, it consists of a dozen thatched cottages, overlooking a lake, complete with a garden, orchard and woodland. A watermill also graces the site, complete with its vane wheel, while in the centre, the Queen's Cottage, flanked by a spiral staircase, has been entirely restored. Farm animals, a hit with children, are kept on the outskirts of the hamlet, near the Temple de l'Amour.
