The Michelin Guide's review
The National Marciana Library was the first Classical building in Venice, which foreshadowed a style used on palaces all over Europe in the 17C and 18C. The building is famous for the ceiling in its lavish Salone Sansoviniano (designed by Sansovino between 1537 and 1560), as well as the portraits of philosophers on the walls, some of which are by Tintoretto and Veronese. The library is home to a collection of precious manuscripts.
