As you head down rue de la Casbah, you will pass the Hammouda Pasha mosque on your right. This elegant, original mosque has symmetrical lines, blind arcades and a superb octagonal minaret. The mausoleum of Hammouda Pasha (1655), which adjoins the mosque, boasts the same graceful style. This architectural complex acted as a model for Bourguiba's mausoleum in Monastir.
