The Michelin Guide's review
The people of Toulouse are very fond of this church, the current guise of which dates back to the 18C. It was originally a pagan temple, then a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary was built here in the 5C, followed by a Benedictine monastery. Of the ceremonies that take place here (blessing of flowers destined for the winners of floral contests), the pilgrimage to Notre Dame la Noire is the most important. At different times, this Black Madonna is dressed in luxurious robes, some designed by renowned couturiers (including J-C de Castelbajac).
