The Michelin Guide's Opinion
The ruins of this fortified Augustinian priory are among the most impressive of Ireland. They occupy a bucolic site near the Kings River, amid hilly meadows where sheep graze. The original buildings, dating from 1193, were burnt and pillaged a hundred years later before being rebuilt. Stop on the right bank of Kings River to enjoy the scenery. Near the bridge a restored watermill has been turned into a Visitor Centre.
