The Michelin Guide's review
A Celto-Ligurian tribe, the Glanics, made this sanctuary into a city, which was in close contact with local merchants and comprised the public buildings and peristyle houses that were highly influenced by the Hellenistic style. The Roman conquest brought about the demise of numerous public buildings before, under Augustus, at the start of the Imperial era, the town was again covered with temples, the forum, baths and basilicas.
