Fontaines Salées Archaeological Site
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This Gallo-Roman site is the only one of its kind in Europe. Here, salty mineral water springs were harnessed and used as early as Ancient times (2 500 BC) with the help of hollowed oak casks. The current site has 14 wells that are still active, a circular temple dedicated to the water divinity, as well as a Gallo-Roman bath complex, with sports facilities, such as a palestra for gymnastics. The Centre d'Accueil et de Découvertes Archéologiques (archaeological finds) is instructive.
