The Michelin Guide's review
This private noble residence, built for the shipowner Lohobiague (1643-1645), has always belonged to the same family. Inside, the old-Basque style is reflected particularly in the straight-flight staircase, the robust work of a ship's carpenter. From the second-floor landing, an interior walkway leads to the apartments, where Lohobiague's widow received Louis XIV in 1660. While passing through the arcade gallery, pause to relish the panoramic view of the Basque Pyrenees.
