Châlucet Castle
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The ruins of Châlucet, a splendid example of medieval military architecture and the object of excavations and a refurbishment programme, occupy a steep headland that extends as far as the confluence of the Briance and the Ligoure. The lower castle (late 12C) features the Jeannette tower and a keep that commands a fine view; the upper castle (13C) is bordered by a large ditch that isolates it on the rocky outcrop. The remains of the ramparts are most impressive.
