Gallo-Roman Bouchauds theatre
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The ruins of the Gallo-Roman Bouchauds theatre (1C), slightly bigger (105m in diameter) than those of Orange, occupy a hillside overlooking the Charentes countryside. The edifice could seat 5,000 to 6,000 people and was part of a shrine within a medium-sized town on the Via Agrippa linking Lyon to Saintes. The Gallo-Roman visitor centre provides an insight into Gaul as it was during the Roman era and showcases the results of digs carried out on the site.
