The Michelin Guide's review
The arboretum is largely the legacy of landscape-architect brothers John Olmsted and Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., who laid out its curving roadway and various gardens between 1909 and the early 1930s. Trails lace the preserve, winding past 5,500 different trees, flowers and other plants, past a Japanese garden and through a rhododendron glen, a rock garden and an avenue of azaleas.
