The Michelin Guide's review
The famous Buddha footprint, discovered by a hunter, can be seen under the canopy of the splendid mondop (note the doors with their inlaid mother-of-pearl). This footprint has made Phra Phutthabat one of the most important holy sites in Buddhism and the temple is always crowded with worshippers, their arms full of offerings. The temple is particularly fascinating during the colourful festivals which take place in February, accompanied by music, theatre and games.
