The road which leaves from Santana passes through the Pico das Pedras (where you will find an experimental botanical centre), and continues as far as the car park of the Texeira plateau. From there, a path takes you to Pico Ruivo. As you make your way along the path, a beautiful view opens up over the Pico Ruivo massif. Behind the building where the car park is located, there is a view point over Faial, and, in the foreground, over a basalt formation called Homem em Pé (man on foot).
