The Michelin Guide's review
Located in the Renaissance castle of Sanok on the site of an ancient Rusyn fortress, the museum boasts a collection of icons almost unparalleled in Poland, displayed over several floors. Over 300 works provide visitors with a clear understanding of how icons were produced from the 15C to the 18C and help to explain their artistic and liturgical significance in eastern Catholicism. The top floor is devoted to world-famous Sanok-born artist, Zdzisław Beksiński, assassinated in Warsaw in 2005.
