The Michelin Guide's review
Another example of San Francisco's dedication to preserving its industrial architectural legacy, the mall has no lack of stores and eateries. The brick edifice, initially a spinning mill, was bought by Italian chocolate manufacturer, Domingo Ghirardelli, to whom it owes its splendid clock tower. Since 1962, chocolate is still produced on the other side of the bay and the original premises have escaped demolition and been treated to a masterful restoration.
