The Michelin Guide's review
Distinguished by two elegant towers facing Broadway, the Spanish Colonial-style train station (1915, Bakewell & Brown Jr.) was built to handle the increased traffic of visitors arriving for the Panama-California Exposition in Balboa Park, replacing a smaller station originally constructed for the Santa Fe Railroad in 1885. Ornate yellow-and-blue tilework graces the cavernous interior.
