The Michelin Guide's review
The 1853 Gallery displays works by David Hockney in a former weaving workshop. An exponent of British Pop Art in the 1960s, this artist worked in a variety of media (lithographs, ink, oil paintings, serigraphy, photocollage) and drew on numerous inspirations (Expressionism, Cubism, Realism). But all of his work seems to be guided by the strength of drawing, which accentuates depth of field and perspective and increases the density of the subject. He continues to expand the collection.
