The Michelin Guide's review
The main road of the port is named after legendary manga author and local lad, Mizuki Shigeru (1922-2015). Its pavements are strewn with over 150 statues depicting monsters, ghosts and other manga characters. Inspired by this universe, teenagers in fancy dress costume (yokai, tengu and kappa) parade noisily up and down the street. When passing cruise ships unload their passengers, the shops and stores overflow as excited tourists search for souvenirs.
