The Michelin Guide's review
The large Baroque building, supported by Melchtal black marble columsn, contains the relics of St Nicholas of Flue (15C) on a special altar at the entrance to the choir. This saint played a major role as a negotiator among the Confederates. His remains are found in a silver reclining statue (1934). At the foot of the belltower stands the funerary chapel where the faithful come to pray.
