The Michelin Guide's review
The Santa Prassede church you see today was created in 822 by Pope Paschal I, although the frescoes date back to the 16C-17C and the coffered ceiling is 19C. The colourful mosaics of the chancel (9C) are characteristic of Byzantine hieratic and Carolingian art. However, Cappella di San Zenone, in the middle of the right nave is undoubtedly the star of the show. Also by Paschal I in the 9C, it sports a fascinating interior, adorned with mosaics on a gold background.
