The English Romantic poet John Keats died in this house in 1821 at the age of 25; he is buried in the Protestant cemetery in Rome. The rooms where he lived now house a collection of his letters, manuscripts and documents, as well as other items relating to Shelley and Byron. The entrance hall is adorned with portraits of Keats and his contemporaries by artists of the period.
