The Michelin Guide's review
Founded in 1893, the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica houses a collection of major paintings from the 13C-18C. Current restoration work at the Palazzo Barberini (17C) has already benefitted the building's main façade, as well as the museum, the pared-down layout (on three separate floors) of which contrasts with the sumptuous paintings on display here. A fine setting for the early Baroque period, including works by Caravaggio and the Carracci, as well as superb decor by Pietro da Cortona.
