The Michelin Guide's review
It was on the spot devoted to the worship of martyr Saint Cecilia (3C AD) that Pope Pascal I (817-824) decided to build a church. The church has been greatly modified over the centuries, but still boasts its lovely 12C campanile. Inside admire the 9C mosaic commissioned by Pascal I in the apse. Above the altar is a statue of St Cecilia by Stefano Maderno (1599) and a superb Last Judgment by Pietro Cavallini, a masterpiece of Roman medieval painting.
