The Michelin Guide's review
From the parvis, a stairway with 25 steps leads up to the miraculous chapel, considered the most holy of Rocamadour's chapels. Rebuilt in the Flamboyant Gothic style by the Bishop of Tulle, Denys de Bar, it suffered damage after the Wars of Religion and the Revolution, and underwent other works in the 19C. In the half-light of the chapel, which has been blackened by candle smoke, you will see the Miraculous Virgin, also known as the Black Virgin on the altar.
