The Michelin Guide's review
Familiarly known as the "Praça XV", (pronounced "praça quïns"), by the locals, Rio's oldest square is one of its most beautiful, particularly since the recent modernisation work. On Sundays, it is the venue of a stamp and antiques market. After visiting the Paço Imperial, you can relax by the Chafariz da Pirâmide, an unusual-looking square fountain topped with a pyramid, by Mestre Valentim, considered the greatest Brazilian sculptor after Aleijadinho.
