The Michelin Guide's review
The town hall was built in 1734 by Jacques-Jules Gabriel (father of the architect of the iconic Place de la Bourse of Bordeaux). The central tower bears a clock, which the people of Rennes affectionately refer to as "Fatty"; it is linked to two impressive pavilions by two curved edifices. In the right wing is the "Rennes Pantheon", which pays tribute to those who died for France.
