Ravensbrück National Memorial
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Built in 1938 on the edge of the Schwedtsee lake, the camp at Ravensbrück rapidly became the largest concentration camp for women in the country: 132,000 women and 20,000 men from 40 countries were sent here. A memorial stands in the remains of the camp, near the crematorium, cells and parts of the wall. A permanent exhibition, located in the former command post, relates the hardship and suffering of the victims, but also their solidarity and determination to survive.
