The Michelin Guide's review
To keep up with the expansion of Lower Town, several markets were established in the vicinity of Place Royale. Strategically located near the St Lawrence, the prosperous Finlay Market (1871) was held up until the 1950s. Today a contemporary sculpture entitled Dialogue with History marks the centre of this huge square. The work of Frenchman Jean-Pierre Raynaud, the "colossus of Quebec", as he's called here, was given to the town by the city of Paris.
