Renamed Jan Palach Square in memory of the young student who set himself alight to protest against the tank invasion during the Warsaw Pact of 1968, the square bordering the Vltava from the Manes Bridge is host to the School of Philosophy (1929), with its traditional architectural style, the College of Decorative Arts (1884) and the Rudolfinum (1875-1884), both of which are of neo-Renaissance influence.
