The Michelin Guide's review
Národní Trída, like Na Príkope, was laid out along the walls of the Old Town (Staré Město) when the moat was filled in. This wide avenue, whose name dates back to the creation of the new Czechoslovak State on 28 October 1918 has kept its tramways and traffic. Lined with shops and administrative buildings, most of which date back to the early 20C, the road was the scene of some of that century's most significant events and demonstrations.
