The Michelin Guide's review
Accessed via two doorways at either end, this hidden medieval courtyard once served as a customs border where visitors would come to pay their city toll (Ungelt in German). The courtyard has retained much of its traditional atmosphere. Note the Granovský Palace, a splendid Renaissance residence with an upper loggia built around 1560 by Jakub Granovský from Granov. Also of interest are the statues of St Wenceslas, St John of Nepomuk and St Florian, which adorn the house of the Black Bear.
