The Michelin Guide's review
The Gulf of Porto-Vecchio is as popular now as it was in the Bronze Age, as the number of summer tourists and the prehistoric remains found here illustrate. A series of peninsulas and small coves running from north to south provide shelter to superb sandy beaches lined with pines, such as the famous Palombaggia. The gulf, abundant in large seashells (nacres) and wild oysters, is well-known for its seafood, which visitors to the region lose no time in sampling.
