Description
The cellars occupy the lower section of Vila Nova de Gaia, on the left bank of the Douro. Some 60 port houses are represented here, with around fifteen open for visits. A tour of the cellars gives an insight into the slow process of making port wine. The port is stored in 535-litre barrels, the porosity of which accentuates the ageing process.
