This section of Porto's historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has undergone major restoration. The quayside, dominated by the lofty silhouette of the metal Dom Luís I bridge, is one of the liveliest districts in Porto, fronted by dilapidated houses with colourful washing hanging out to dry. A few boats are moored here, some offering cruises along the Douro.
