The Michelin Guide's review
The 6.30m-high bronze Virgin and child, dating from 1876, extends a protective arm over the city. A hundred metres or so away, to the right, a viewing platform commands a splendid vista over the historic town. Note the alternating round tiles of the houses and slate tiles of the public buildings. Below is Coligny rock, which Admiral Gaspard de Coligny chose as an observation point during the siege of the town in 1569.
