Chichén Itzá: Iglesia

The Michelin Guide's review
The Iglesia is a masterpiece in the Puuc style. The roof of this little temple, set on top of smooth walls, is extended by a roof comb above the façade. On either side of the central mask, four figures with zoomorphic busts sitting in profile on thrones probably represent the four Bacabs that hold up the heavens. Two of them, the turtle and the snail, are easily identifiable.
