The Michelin Guide's review
Pirou Castle is a massive 12C medieval fortress flanked by a pond. A series of three fortified gates lead into the inner courtyard, where the bakery, press-house, chapel and salle des Plés (courthouse) were located. In July and August, the latter houses a tapestry depicting the Norman conquest of Italy and Sicily. In the old hall, visitors can see the guardroom, kitchens and two dining rooms. There is a lovely view of the surrounding area from the top of the square tower.
