The Michelin Guide's review
In the 18C and early 19C, the people of Philadelphia built their rural retreats on the bluffs above Schuylkill River. Today, seven elegant homes are open to the public. They include Cedar Grove, the oldest (1746), which is a fieldstone farmhouse (Lansdowne Drive); elegant Mount Pleasant (off Fountain Green Drive) with its magnificent interior wood panelling; and the late-Georgian-style Woodford Mansion (1756 - N. 33rd Street), famed for its fine Colonial furnishings.
