The Michelin Guide's review
This Italianate theatre was built in 1782 for the Comédie Française. Despite its eventful history, it is one of the world's great stages, hosting works by Beaumarchais, Claudel, Ionesco, Beckett etc. Following three years of restoration, the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe enjoyed a new lease of life in 2006. The caryatids in the main hall, which had been covered up, reappeared in bright yellow. The floor, which was flat, is now sloping, and the ceiling painted by André Masson has been re-introduced.
