The Michelin Guide's review
A popular meeting point for the locals, this former parade square of the old castle is the junction of the old quarter and the earliest ensanche (new quarter). 18C arcaded buildings border it on three sides, while the fourth opens onto the broad Avenida Carlos III and the regional government building. Opposite this vast 19C structure is the Belle Époque-style Café Iruña, one of Spain's oldest and most legendary (the ideal spot for an evening drink).
