The Michelin Guide's review
The historic heart of Arab-Norman Palermo, located next to the port, the Kalsa quarter was flattened by Allied bombs in 1943. At once fascinating and full of contradictions, this area has been a huge building site for a long time. Centred on Piazza della Kalsa, it extends as far as Corso Vittorio Emanuele. You enter La Kalsa through the Porta dei Greci, which opens out onto the square graced by Santa Teresa alla Kalsa with its Baroque church façade.
