The Michelin Guide's review
Behind the austere 19C façade are several buildings of different styles. The oldest dates back to the 14C, and houses the town hall. You will discover all the exuberance of the Sicilian Baroque within. The upper storey contains a bas-relief representing a crowned Demeter, in tribute to the Sicilian goddess. The Seat of the Council, or Sala delle Lapidi, is well worth a look: see the marble panels covered with inscriptions and its superb wooden light fitting.
